PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: The Team Member Life Coach & Career Counselor provides mission services in the form of life coaching and career counseling for internal Goodwill of Southern Nevada team members. Specifically, the role provides direct counseling support and referrals to team members experiencing challenges to their success. The Coach will maintain a high level of confidentiality of team member challenges.  The position will report directly to the Chief Culture and Mission Officer.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Life Coaching Programs             

  • Plans, implements and manages programs for team members that includes frequent on-site visits and new hire orientations to share program services with team members.
  • Travels to Goodwill sites and holds on-site office hours at store locations.
  • Follows up with team members on their requests for life coaching, meeting the team member on their day off.
  • Provides crisis intervention when required and refers team members to agencies in the community for housing, food, child care, elder care and other social services. 
  • Actively seeks to update information about community agencies such as TANF, SNAP, Housing and VA Benefits.
  • Refers team members who are Veterans to specific agencies that offer a variety of social services.
  • Provides bus passes, clothing vouchers, rental assistance, etc. for team members in need.
  • Recognizes, utilizes and responds to the role of others in the individual's coaching plan which includes therapists, psychiatrists, school counselors and family members.
  • Helps team members create a personal budget and follows up to determine their progress to staying on budget.
  • Helps team members develop a career development plan that includes internal Goodwill roles, as well as, external roles at other employers.
  • Maintains confidentiality agreements with each team member served and accurately case notes discussions which are kept separate from Human Resources files.                    Training
  • Develops and conducts workshops in budgeting, financial education, managing life/work balance, career development plans and how to excel in the workplace.
  • Coordinates workshops with outside facilitators that wish to conduct workshops on financial literacy.
  • Assesses effectiveness of workshops through internal metrics such as number of team members promoted, retained and considered ready for another role.
  • Tracks reasons for team members departure so the organization can address issues and celebrate the success of a team member leaving to go back to school or pursue a significant career opportunity.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree and five or more years of experience separately or in combination as a certified educator at the high school or college level and/or as a specialist providing direct support services in a human resource setting.
  • Must have proven experience in effectively counseling individuals in the workplace, showing adaptability to worker's needs.
  • Must have proven experience in exercising good independent judgement and creativity as necessary in program development and identification of solutions for team members.
  • Must have proven experience in maintaining confidential records and documentation.
  • Must be collaborative to arrange programs and sessions with store and operations management.
  • Must be able to maintain effective working relationships with all team members at the agency.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be familiar with a wide range of local community resources, services and training.
  • National Career Development Association (NCDA) certification as a Career Development Facilitator is strongly desired.
  • Spanish fluency is strongly desired.
  • Solid computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Email and Internet.
