PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:  To provide stewardship with donors at our donation centers while representing Goodwill (GW) with the highest standards of providing excellent customer service, and most consistent daily acquisition of donations.  The Donations Ambassador will be the first point of contact for donors and public image, whose priority is to provide the outmost customer service to each and every donor, by being attentive, pleasant, respectful and diplomatic at all times.  The Donations ambassador's mission is to protect the donation(s) entrusted upon them by the agency and donors, while following Asset Protection policy and procedures, while maintaining a clean and organized donation center.


  • Must provide a high level of excellent customer service, including being courteous and appreciative to all donors;
  • Promptly approach and professionally greet walk-up or drive-in donors;
  • Represent Goodwill with dignity and respect by being in uniform at all times to include and properly wear khaki pants, GW shirt, and GW hat;
  • Assist donors by carrying donations for them to the donation center from their vehicles;
  • Ensure the quality and cleanliness of the ADC site at all times;
  • Protect all donations by handling them with the outmost care ensuring their safe storage and highest potential of utility, to include sorting and processing of donations into categories;
  • Communicate collection-of-donations needs or hazards to the Supervisor via radio to ensure no donations are left behind;
  • Must have excellent attendance by always being on time and following assigned work schedule;
  • Must have reliable transportation to be able to work at any Donation Center;
  • Responsible for making sure Donation Center opens on time, and that it stays opened until the official time to close;
  • Decline donations from Donors in a diplomatic and professional manner per agency donation guidelines;
  • Responsible and accountable for the efficient and accurate completion of donor-count log per day on a daily basis;
  • Verbally abusive or combative customers should be reported to the Supervisor.
  • Team Member should never involve themselves or anyone in physical altercations with customers or Team Members.
  • Communicate to Supervisor any problems, or suspicious activity;
  • Practice safety by wearing protective equipment and following safety procedures.
  • Any other tasks as assigned by the Donations Management.


  • Must be at least 18 years old to qualify for position
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in a professional manner with the public and Team Members.
  • Minimum one year in customer service is preferred.
  • Must be able to fluently read and write.
  • Must have a High School diploma or higher.
  • Position is physically demanding and must be able to handle and meet physical factors.       Must have the ability to provide a consistently mature, neat, clean image for Goodwill.
  • Must be reliable and responsible for performance with limited supervision.      
  • Must have the ability to recognize the difference between saleable merchandise and items that must be salvaged.
  • Must take and pass drug test and strength test, which measures ability to pull, push, or lift an item, as a condition to employment and before the first day of employment.
  • Must be fluent in English; bilingual a plus.

Physical Factors:

Lift/Carry: 100 lbs.         Push/Pull:   50lbs to 100 lbs.

Environmental Factors: Essential duties require constant use of arms and hands for grasping and placing donations into collections bins. Position is constantly standing on black top or concrete floors for up to 8-12 hours at one time throughout a work day.  This position requires frequent stooping, bending, reaching and balancing to accomplish daily tasks.  Frequently will need to lift, carry, push and pull heavy to extremely heavy boxes and furniture items.  Requires the ability to smell the condition of clothing, as well as feel the condition of donations. Requires good visual and hearing and must be able to greet promptly while helping donors.  100 percent of the duties are performed in an outdoor environment in and around a trailer with no regulated temperature, which includes exposure to extreme heat, cold, wind, and dust.

Pay Rate:  $8.75Per Hour
